Who are Sterile Processing Techs?
Sterile Processing Technicians play a vital role in healthcare, as they are responsible for maintaining sterile medical instruments and environments. Sterile processing is "the center of all activity involving supplies and equipment needed for surgery and other patient care areas". As a sterile processing technician you are responsible for decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, disassembling, packaging, and sterilizing reusable medical instruments and/or devices in a healthcare facility that are essential for patient safety. Our Program

We offer a 15 week program that covers anatomy & physiology, microbiology, and infection control. Our course also includes decontamination and sterilization processing; how to handle, care for and identify surgical instruments. Our program provides both classroom training and clinical exposure to the Central Sterile Processing Department.
Upon completion of the course student will receive a certificate of completion. Graduates will be eligible to pursue professional certification through organizations such as International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM). *To qualify for the Certified Registered Central Service Technician credentials, applicant must complete 400 hours of hands on experience in the laboratory or healthcare setting *Medical Terminology and hospital setting experience are suggested but NOT required. |
